Danny Sebastian was inundated with messages of support after he addressed an on-air error. The Bargain Hunt star joined the programme as an expert in 2017 and became one of the show’s main presenters two years ago. But the antique dealer recoiled over an episode that recently aired where he admittedly suffered “long bouts of silence”.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, he told his 7,939 followers: “This episode is very early doors of me hosting the show so I apologise for mistakes errors and any long bouts of silence. Hope you enjoy this one – I certainly did.”
The Bargain Hunt episode aired on April 18 where Danny presented the BBC show and was joined by fellow experts Isabel Balmer and John Cameron.
Social media users flocked to comment on the apology, as one viewer penned: “Didn’t notice any mate, mind you, I was too busy watching my fave, Izzie.” Sebastian replied with laughing emojis.
Another commented: “I watched it and thought how you’d grown into the job!” A third wrote: “Who cares, re: mishaps, Danny? We all make them. Bargain Hunt is a joy. Experts brilliant. I’ll be watching. Keep being you, Star Man.”
A fourth echoed: “Must be a bit daunting when you first start out as host!”
“I watched it, and didn’t notice a thing, so don’t be hard on yourself,” a social media user noted.
In a follow-up message, Danny wrote: “Well, we should all learn from our mistakes, that’s the plan.”
The expert hosted his first show in October 2022, with the episodes being filmed in Harrogate.
David Dickinson originally fronted the Bargain Hunt series before Tim Wonnacott later took over, but now the show is fronted by a selection of its experts including Danny, Roo Irvine, Caroline Hawley alongside regular presenters Christina Trevanion, Charlie Ross, Natasha Raskin Sharp, and Eric Knowles.
Outside of Bargain Hunt, Sebastian has appeared on Celebrity Eggheads, Flipping Profit, Junk Rescue, Celebrity Mastermind and Susan Calman’s Antiques Adventure.
Bargain Hunt airs today on BBC One at 12.15pm
