West Virginia Sees Online Casino Revenue Increase For Fourth-Straight Month

After posting $17.9 million in revenue in May 2024 and $18.5 million in June 2024, West Virginia saw an increase of over $1 million compared to May, posting $19.1 million in July 2024.

Compared to July 2023, this was a 77% increase.

West Virginia online casino has experienced its best year-on-year revenue growth in almost two years. The $19.1 million posted in July 2024 would’ve been an all-time high if not for the $20.68 million in revenue in March 2024.

As for licenses, Greenbrier and Charles Town sat atop the state, separated by just 1%.

Mountaineer Casinos, which is affiliated with BetRivers and Caesars, is holding its own. Mountaineer posted $3.9 million in revenue, an all-time high for the licensee. Now, Mountaineer possesses a market share closing in at 20% and 19.4%.

One thing we don’t know in West Virginia is what the specific online casino is drawing revenue-wise. States like New Jersey post these numbers, but this isn’t the case in West Virginia.

Numbers for Several Months Back

Here’s a look back at some recent months figures:

  • July 2024: $19.1 million
  • June 2024: $18.5 million
  • May 2024: $17.9 million
  • April 2024: $17.8 million
  • March 2024: $20.68 million

For reference, here’s when all online casinos in the state launched:

  • BetMGM: August 2020 (Greenbrier)
  • DraftKings: July 2020 (Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races)
  • BetRivers: April 2021 (Mountaineer)
  • Caesars: April 2021 (Mountaineer)
  • FanDuel: May 2021 (Greenbrier)
  • Golden Nugget: October 2021 (Greenbrier)
  • Fanatics: November 2023 (Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races)
  • Betly: June 2023 (Mardi Gras)

We’ll look to the August 2024 figures to see if this can eclipse the $20.68 million from March.
