A major crash has caused snarls on the M5 with the northbound carriageway currently closed to traffic. 

The collision involved a car with fuel spilt on the motorway between junctions 11 and 12. 

In addition, the bad weather is already making travel on the road difficult. 

Traffic and travel monitoring site Inrix reports: “M5 northbound blocked, stationary traffic due to accident, a car involved and oil spillage from J12 A430 (Quedgeley / Hardwicke) to J11A A417 (Gloucester / Cirencester).

“Traffic held around 11:40, also affecting traffic heading southbound as they look over.”
