Fashion designer and Britain’s Got Talent contestant host ‘dog yoga’ event

Designer James Lakeland and Mahny Djahanguiri will be in East Finchley on December 18 where they will combine talents to raise money for the animal charity All Dogs Matter.

The dog-friendly event at Lakeland’s headquarters in Great North Road will offer a dog yoga – aka ‘doga’ – class with Djahanguiri.

Best known for appearing on Britain’s Got Talent with her rescue pup Robbie, Mahny has been teaching doga for 12 years and has written a book, Doga: Yoga for You and Your Dog.

Anyone over seven years old is welcome to take part in the sessions – irrespective of whether they have a pet or not.

Lakeland, whose collections are stocked by John Lewis, Wolf & Badger, and Fenwick, will be showcasing his cashmere collection and other essentials.

The first class runs from 3.30pm to 5pm, followed by drinks and nibbles until 6pm.

Following the second class from 7.30pm to 9pm there will be drinks, fashion and a raffle.

The event will end with a gong bath, promising sound waves to soothe away any pre-Christmas stress.

All Dogs Matter, which rehomes abandoned dogs, has celebrity patrons including comedians Alan Carr and Ricky Gervais and actors Peter Egan and Michelle Collins.

Djahanguiri said: “This is a joyous fun yoga session followed with a soothing sound gong bath for owners and non -dog owners and with your commitment we can help abandoned dogs in shelters who have to be given up due to the housing crisis.

She said she and Lakeland were “staunch supporters” of the charity, and that research shows that many people who would love to adopt rescue dogs have been turned away by animal charities because they don’t meet strict criteria.

But she said All Dogs Matter makes adoption swift, easy and accessible, while still making animal welfare a priority.

She added: “Right now there shelters are full up so with your money we can support their fostering and adoption process.

“Your dogs will help the underdog to find a new home.”
