Cassidy selected to represent Great Britain in World Rowing Championships

Fermanagh rower Acorn Cassidy has been selected to represent Great Britain in the U19 World Rowing Championships in Canada.

Cassidy will take part in the Women’s Four (JW4-) under coach Bodo Schulenburg (Hinksey Sculling School).

Emily Nicholas (Sir William Perkins’s School), Martha Shepherd (Hinksey Sculling School) and Natasha Philips (Wycliffe College) will join Cassidy in the boat with the championships taking place from August 18 to 25.

The Enniskillen Royal Boat Club member will join 83 other selected GB athletes alongside 27 supporting staff members in making the trip to St Catharines in Canada.

Cassidy enjoyed a successful ending to the rowing season with ERBC at the Irish Rowing Championships in Cork.

The J18 four, also including Zara Welsh, Isabella Wright and Naomi Robinson came out on top in their race with 14 boats taking part.

Cassidy was also a part of the team to win the J18 eights final.
