Motorists faced travel chaos on the M6 on Monday evening due to a substantial diesel spill from a heavy goods vehicles.
The M6 was closed northbound between J5 (CastleBromwich) and J6 (Birmingham).
National Highways confirmed the ongoing incident on social media platform X, writing: “Due to a large diesel spillage affecting all lanes, the M6 has been closed northbound between J5 (CastleBromwich) and J6 (Birmingham A38M). Traffic Officers are working at the scene with specialist contractors en route to assist with the clean-up.”
National Highways Traffic Officers warned that a “substantial clean-up operation will be required”. It is not clear whether there have been any injuries as a result of the overturned vehicle.
