Govt alerts Hongkongers of personal safety on UK travel amid riots

The government on Tuesday reminds Hong Kong residents to exercise caution as well as avoid large gatherings of people when traveling to United Kingdom after the ongoing protests and riots.

Residents who intend to visit the country or are already there are advised to monitor the situation, attend to personal safety, and pay attention to local announcements on the latest situation.

The spokesman said residents in the UK who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline at (852) 1868, use the chatbot via the Immigration Department mobile application or contact the Chinese Embassy in the UK at consular protection hotline: (44) 7536174993.

The Security Bureau said it will monitor the situation and update will be issued through the media, the Bureau’s mobile app and the Outbound Travel Alert webpage.

The spokesman added that the Amber travel alert issued against the UK is still in force.
