The report states that the tranche was provided under guarantees from both governments as part of the World Bank’s Development Policy Loan (DPL) program.

According to Shmyhal, the funds will be directed toward strengthening the economy and covering key expenses in social and humanitarian sectors.

“We are grateful to the World Bank and the governments of Japan and the United Kingdom for their significant support and contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s resilience,” Shmyhal said.

  • On December 20, Shmyhal also announced that Ukraine had started receiving the first tranche of U.S. funds from frozen Russian assets. The World Bank is expected to allocate $2 billion through the DPL mechanism.
