Great Britain has joined Belgium, Australia, Spain, France and Germany as the winners of gold medals in the Zurich World Championships. In the final time-trial event, that of the junior women, 18-year old Cat Ferguson put on a masterful performance to take a victory with a wide margin.

The British road race champion in the junior rankings put in a ride that would match her Movistar teammate Iván Romeo who won the men’s under-23 event yesterday, and in the 18.8-kilometer route managed to put in 34 seconds on her closest rival to take the rainbow jersey. This is another proof of her enormous talent, a rider that at 18 years old is already a trainee at the elite Movistar Women’s team and has already taken her first pro win among the pros.
