Jet2 issues warning for tourists travelling from major UK airport

Jet2 has issued a warning to passengers travelling from Edinburgh Airport as there could be congestion in the surrounding area.

The airline warned: “The Royal Highland Show is taking place at the Royal Highland Centre between Thursday June 20 and Sunday June 23.

“It is expected that traffic and congestion around the area will be heavier than normal.

“Please allow extra time for your journey to Edinburgh Airport and make sure your contact details are up to date in ‘Manage My Booking’.”

It added that the airline’s staff would be in touch with passengers if the situation changes at any point but there are not expected to be any delays to flights

Jet2 has also warned passengers travelling from East Midlands Airport that they may need to leave more time for their journey.

Road works between Junction 23A and Junction 25 on the M1 mean that a 50mph speed restriction is in place.

There are also expected to be sporadic closures of Junction 23A slip roads between 10pm and 6am.

Passengers travelling to Manchester Airport could also be impacted by road works until the end of August.

Road works between Junction 5 and 6 of the M56 are expected to lead to road closures between June and July.

Diversions are signposted but passengers should make sure they leave enough time to travel to the airport.
