A man has died in a horror crash on the M40. The accident closed the major motorway northbound between J4 near High Wycombe and J5 near Stokenchurch this morning, with an air ambulance landing at the scene and providing “critical care”.
The southbound lanes of the road were also closed to accommodate the aircraft and traffic could be seen backing up in the area.
Thames Valley Police said the accident occurred when a BMW motorcycle veered across the lanes of the M40 before hitting the central reservation between junction 4 for High Wycombe and junction 4 for Stokenchurch, at 8.55am.
The rider, a 69-year-old man, sadly died at the scene despite the efforts of South Central Ambulance Service. His next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers.
