New map shows parts of UK to be ‘cut off’ by 30cm barrage

These regions and local authorities fall under the Met Office‘s snow and ice warning, which comes into force at 6pm today and last until midday tomorrow:

Derby, Derbyshire, Leicester, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester.

Also included are: Greater Manchester, Halton, Lancashire, Merseyside, Warrington, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Conwy.

The same warning applies to Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea, Torfaen, Vale of Glamorgan and Wrexham.

Finally, these places are included too: Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford and Wrekin, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Yorkshire & Humber, East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

The Met Office‘s second amber warning is for snow and it is in force from 9pm today until 23.59pm on Sunday.

It warns of power cuts, road, rail and air travel disruption and some rural communities possibly getting cut off.

The warning includes these counties and local authority areas: Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, Stockton-on-Tees, Blackburn with Darwen, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Staffordshire, Yorkshire & Humber, East Riding of Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and York.
