Olympics 2024 LIVE: Latest medals and results from Paris 2024

Alex Yee wins spectacular gold with unbelievable comeback in the men’s triathlon

Day six of the Olympics sees the return of Andy Murray and Simone Biles on a busy day at Paris 2024.

Murray is back on court at Roland Garros with Dan Evans and the British pair take on Americans Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz looking to continue their thrilling Olympic ride.

Team USA superstar Biles will bid for a second gymnastics gold of the Games following her team all-around gold on Tuesday when she competes in the star-studded individual competition. Her main competition should come from reigning champion and teammate Sunisa Lee or Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, while Team GB’s Georgia-Mae Fenton and Alice Kinsella are also involved.

It could be a big day for Team GB at the rowing. Britain will hope to scoop at least one gold in the various rowing finals, with flagbearer Helen Glover competing in the women’s four alongside Esme Booth, Samantha Redgrave, and Rebecca Shorten this morning.

Elsewhere there are 17 more gold medals available, including Rio 2016 champion Joe Clarke eyeing a second Olympic gold in the canoe slalom K1 event, while the athletics kicks off with Callum Wilkinson in action in the men’s 20km race walk. In the swimming, superstars Tatjana Smith (200m breaststroke) and Canada’s Summer McIntosh (200m butterfly) return to La Defense Arena.

Today at the Olympics: Thursday’s schedule as Simone Biles goes for individual gold at Paris 2024

The world’s eyes will be on Simone Biles once more today as the greatest gymnast of all time bids for her sixth Olympic gold medal in the sport’s most coveted event, the individual allaround final (5.15pm BST). Her biggest competition may well come from fellow American Suni Lee, who won gold in Biles’ absence in Tokyo and who impressed during the USA’s team win on Tuesday. And look out for Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, who won silver in Tokyo and is the reigning Olympic champion on the vault.

Britain will hope to scoop at least one gold in the various rowing finals, with flagbearer Helen Glover competing in the women’s four (10.50am) before Team GB’s world champions go in the men’s four (11.10am).

Golf makes its first appearance of these Olympics with round one of the men’s competition (8am) at Le Golf National, featuring Rory McIlroy for Ireland. He goes up against American duo Scottie Scheffler and reigning Olympic champion Xander Schauffele, while Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick are the British pair.

American, Australia and Canada will face off in the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay (9.03pm) in the pool, after Canadian teenage star Summer McIntosh has bid for the women’s 200m fly title (7.30pm).

Olympics 2024: Golf

Scheffler is the favourite, as the world’s No.1 ranked player for some time, but Schauffele, the defending gold medalist from Tokyo and a two-time major winner in this year alone following his Open victory at Royal Troon, will be tipped by many to defend his title.

Here are the tee times for the first two rounds in Paris:

Olympics 2024: Golf

Tommy Fleetwood is about to get his first round going at Le Golf National. Olympics golf is exactly the same as the tours around the world as is a 72 hole stroke play contest.

The lowest score after 72 holes wins the gold, with the second and third lowest earning silver and bronze. There are 60 players in each field (men’s and women’s).

At Tokyo 2020 there was a seven man play-off for bronze medal which makes things more interesting especially if someone opens up a huge lead in first place.

Fleetwood is playing alongside the USA’s Wyndham Clark who drills his opening shot over to the left side of the fairway and almost finds the water. He was one bounce away from splashing there!

Fleetwood’s tee shot is better and the Team GB man smokes his drive right down the middle. Fleetwood is away!

Photographers break Chinese table tennis star’s paddle to spark major Olympic upset

Less than 24 hours after celebrating his gold medal win in the table tennis mixed doubles, China’s Wang Chuqin suffered a shock exit in the singles event to Sweden’s Truls Moregard on Wednesday.

For the 22-year-old Moregard it was his second-ever victory over a Chinese player in international competition.

An ecstatic Moregard celebrated by shouting to the crowd, dancing on the floor, and drawing energy from spectators chanting his name on a thrilling day at Paris 2024.

Olympics 2024: Golf

Golf is back on the Olympic stage this morning as the players tee off at Le Golf National where they’ll be playing the Albatros course, the same one as played in the 2018 Ryder Cup.

Team Europe won that tournament and Tommy Fleetwood triumphed in all four of his matches there six years. Fleetwood and 2022 US Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick are the two Team GB representatives with fellow Ryder Cup teammate Rory McIlroy competing for Ireland.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live Fitzpatrick said, “A major is number one in a golfers world. Outside of that you have got a few big events on the PGA tour and European tour that you target at the start of the calendar year, but when you have an Olympics that goes in with them.”

The action began at 8am with Fleetwood teeing off at 8:44am, McIlroy at 9:11am and Fitzpatrick at 11:06am.

Olympics 2024: Athletics – 20km race walk

Brian Daniel Pintado is the new Olympic champion!

He put on a spurt to separate himself from the other two challengers and crosses the line in 1:18:55. Caio Bonfim claims the silver with Alvaro Martin taking home the bronze.

Massimo Stano, the reigning Olympic champion, finishes just outside the medal spots in fourth.

Olympics 2024: Athletics – 20km race walk

There are four walkers in contention for the medals with just 2km to go. Caio Bonfim of Brazil is desperate for a medal but has collected two red cards and needs to be wary.

Massimo Stano keeps tripping up as he attempts to maintain the pace and looks to be in some discomfort. Ecudaor’s Brian Pintado and Spain’s Alvaro Martin seem to be the two most comfortable racers.

Stano dropped! By the 1km mark the reigning Olympic champion has fallen away meaning all that’s left is to decide the who wins which colour medal.

Pintado leads, Bonfim is second with Martin third heading into the final lap.

Italy’s Massimo Stano is the reigning Olympic champion have triumphed over 20km in Tokyo. He’s moved himself to the front of the race and seems on course to defend his title as the pace increases.

The walkers are now travelling at under four minutes per kilometre with the leading pack slowly dwindling. Two Spanish racers, Alvaro Martin and Paul McGrath, are right on his heels through the 16km mark.

Olympics 2024: Windsurfing

One Team GB athlete to keep an eye out for is Britain’s Emma Wilson.

She tops the windsurfing table with two days left just ahead of Israel’s Sharon Kantor in second. Wilson seems well placed for a medal after winning seven of the 11 completed races but nothing can be taken for granted.

On Wednesday, the debut women’s windsurfing marathon was abandoned as wind faded and there are five races planned for today before the quarter-final, semi-final and final stages on Friday.

Should Wilson have a good outing today, and manage to finish top of the rankings, she will progress straight to the final and guarantee at least a silver medal.

Olympics 2024: Athletics – 20km race walk

The race is just starting to spread out as fatigue starts to hit the athletes. Mexico’s Jose Luis Doctor collected four red cards and has been disqualified from the race.

China’s Zhang Jun has retaken the lead and seems quite determined to push on. He passes the 13km mark in 52:18 with Callum Wilkinson of Great Britain beginning to drop further away.

He’s down in 24th but has fallen six seconds behind the leader which seems a decent margin to have to make up.
