Paris Lapthorne’s final Paralympicspublished at 16:43 British Summer Time

I caught up with Andy Lapthorne this morning at ParalympicsGB House after he announced yesterday that Paris will be his last Games, having won silver in the quad doubles on Wednesday.
It’s clearly been a big decision that has been on his mind heading in to Paris.
He told me: “Part of the reason is to take that mental pressure off myself. To give me that time at home to hopefully start a family, to find a girlfriend – if anyone’s out there! – and when I have kids to spend more time with them.
“Being a tennis player you’re constantly on the go and that doesn’t lend itself to having much of a home life.
“We’re away on tour 25-30 weeks of the year and having another four-year goal right now is just too big.”
