NEW DELHI: China has showcased its prowess in the competition, securing the top position with an impressive haul of 71 medals. The nation’s athletes have garnered 33 gold, 27 silver, and 11 bronze medals, outshining their rivals in the race for the highest number of gold medals.
Following closely behind, Great Britain has claimed the second spot with a commendable total of 43 medals.The British contingent has put up a strong show, clinching 23 gold medals, which is the second-highest after China, along with 12 silver and 8 bronze medals. The substantial number of gold medals has played a crucial role in cementing their position near the apex of the leader board.
The United States has secured the third position, amassing a total of 27 medals. The American athletes have brought home 8 golds, 11 silvers, and 8 bronzes. Despite being tied with Brazil in terms of the total medal count, the United States has edged ahead due to a higher number of silver medals.
Brazil, with an identical total of 27 medals, finds itself in the fourth spot. The South American nation has won 8 gold medals, 4 silver, and a notable 15 bronze medals. Although Brazil has the same overall medal tally as the United States, it ranks lower as a result of having fewer silver medals.
Rounding out the top five, France has accumulated a total of 26 medals. The French athletes have secured 6 gold, 9 silver, and 11 bronze medals. The evenly spread distribution of medals across all three categories has propelled France to a position just behind Brazil.
India, with a total of 7 medals, occupies the 27th spot in the standings. The nation’s medal count comprises 1 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals. While the overall tally may be comparatively smaller, India’s achievements on the global stage remain noteworthy and significant.
