Traffic delays on the M40 for London bound drivers after vehicle fire

Passengers travelling between London Euston, Northampton and Crewe face severe disruption after Storm Bert flooding damaged the station tracks last week.

London Northwestern Railway passengers have been advised to only travel ‘if absolutely necessary’ due to shorter trains while rail replacement transport is expected to be ‘extremely busy,’ National Rail said.

Northampton station was out of action for a week after the flooding caused damage to the signals and tracks. While most of the repairs have now been done, further fixes are needed to allow trains to access all platforms.

National Rail said: ‘This is expected to affect the start of service for London Northwestern Railway services this morning.

‘We currently have no estimate of when disruption will be expected until so, please check back for further updates.’
