Who is Keir Starmer’s wife Victoria Starmer? a lawyer and soon-to-be First Lady of Britain

Who is Keir Starmer’s wife Victoria Starmer? After the highly-anticipated result of the general elections in 2024, the UK is set to get its new Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, a Labour Party candidate. As Starmer gets the magic number of 326 seats, he will become the country’s next head with her wife, Victoria Starmer.

All the opinion polls in the past were hinting at Labour commanding a huge lead over the Conservatives, suggesting Starmer as the new PM. In his speech after holding the Holborn and St Pancras constituency, Starmer thanked her wife for her unflinching support.

Victoria Starmer has always stayed away from all the media attention, and has never done an interview like Rishi Sunak’s wife Akshata Murty, who introduced him with a speech at the Tory conference- but that is about change, as per Starmer.

Who is Keir Starmer’s wife, Victoria Starmer?

Victoria Starmer is a former solicitor and wife of Keir Starmer, the soon-to-be PM of the UK and the leader of the Labour Party. Victoria also worked for the National Health Service (NHS), as of July 2024.

Victoria was born into a Polish-Jewish family that migrated to the UK before the Second World War. She is a practising Jew.

After getting her degrees in law and sociology from Cardiff University in 1996, she started her career as a solicitor with Hodge Jones & Allen, a Soho law firm specialising in street crime. There she worked for four years, before getting married to Keir Starmer.

Since their marriage, Victoria has worked in NHS occupational health and shows interest in continuing her role if her husband is elected PM.

Starmer has been an ardent supporter of the Labour Party since her college days. At Cardiff University, she was the president of the student union for a year. As a student, she protested against the education reforms of the then-Tory education secretary John Patten during her tenure as Cardiff University’s education and welfare officer in 1993.

Victoria met Keir Starmer, who was then a senior barrister with Doughty Street Chambers, in the early 2000s, reportedly saying “Who the fuck does he think he is?” after their first conversation. The two eventually became close and got married in 2007.

The couple have two children, a son and a daughter. Both are being brought up in the Jewish faith of their mother.

Victoria kept a relatively low profile during the 2024 general election, having chosen not to appear on the campaign trail. But things might change as she enters the 10 Downing Street.
